Morais Vineyards & Winery feels like a hidden gem to me. Located in Bealton, VA (that’s off of US 17 for all of you non-geographically challenged folks – aka, not Kristina), the winery is such a breath of fresh air. The wines are made in a Portuguese style as the owners are Portuguese. The winery itself is beautiful – the tasting room + event spaces are just breathtaking. They’re always decorated so nicely and the staff has always been friendly + informative. If you only try one winery in the area, try this one!!!
Danielle + I visited the winery together in August. It’s actually one of my favorite memories of us. We had a blast at the wine tasting, sat outside on the patio with a glass of wine + chatted and just enjoyed the beautiful day. In November, I attended their annual Fall Festival with my family. With the exception of Ryan, they had never been so it was great to see their reactions and be with them with live music, other good snacks being offered and a chance to see the vineyard’s car collection. Ryan and I visited the winery before we got married too – kind of by accident and we loved it then! I’ve honestly never had a bad experience here! Like our previous post on Potomac Point Winery, Danielle + I wanted to break down our experience with you!

Wine Tasting:
Kristina – It’s no secret that I love Morais’ tastings! They’re reasonably priced for the amount of wine you try and it’s a great process. They bring you meat, cheese + chocolate to try alongside the wine which is so helpful for someone like me who is still figuring out how pairing truly works. They let you take your time – at the fall festival, my family actually got a table and we had the tasting there. Although I’m sure it’s extra work, it really made me feel like the MV staff was genuinely concerned with making our experience wonderful! A+++ in my book! Just be aware – the port style wines at the end will hit you hard if you’re not really into that kind of thing (which I’m not). They’re sweet but also made with brandy and you can really tell! (Ryan loves them so it’s really just a not-for-everyone thing, but worth trying once!).
Danielle – Morais’ tasting included so many wines! I was impressed and also overwhelmed by the amount they give you. It is a great deal for the price, and I truly enjoyed the majority of the wines they had to offer. They bring a plate with a variety of snacks, (that is a winning place in my book!) that you can pair with the wine. I had just started my journey as a vegetarian in August, so I did not taste any of the meats. But they had a nice selection of cheese, pretzels, and chocolate. I am also not a fan of the port style wines they offer at the tasting, but it is nice to taste the variety they have.
Favorite Wine:
Kristina – I really like the Cabernet Franc and Select Red. I’ll be honest though, there’s quite a few wines on the list I enjoy.
Danielle – My favorite wine we tasted would have to be the Cabernet Franc. I definitely enjoyed many of the other wines there, but I would get a glass of the Cab Franc.
Favorite Aspect of Winery:
Kristina – I love the atmosphere. The space is beautiful but relaxed. You can bring your picnic basket with you, watch the horses and have great wine. I just don’t think you can beat that! The staff is also really helpful + caring so that means a lot to me. We’ve never had a bad experience. They take the time to help you, discuss the wines with you + really know their stuff!
Danielle – It is so beautiful, clean, and spacious when you first walk into Morais. I have been to other wineries that are too cluttered or filled with tacky Tuscan themes (not for me). Morais is so relaxing and the staff is informative but does not oversell or overstay while you taste.
Would I Return?:
Kristina – If you haven’t figured it out yet, YES!
Danielle – Yes! I definitely want to go back soon before the weather makes it too tricky to get there.
As you can see, Morais is a big name in our books. There’s never a bad time to visit + never a bad wine to try! We’d love to hear what you think after you visit!
