Three Tips for Returning to Real Life | Baby World Traveler

Uncategorized

April 17, 2017

I LOVE traveling. Like, getting on a plane, going somewhere new and just BEING there is the best thing in this world to me. It goes without saying then, that coming back is the worst part about traveling. It’s not that I don’t love being home too – but settling back into real life can be the hardest part to me about leaving. Getting back into a routine, into chores and work can be difficult. Today on the blog, I’m sharing my top three tips for getting back into the swing of things after your trip!

Traveling, Advice, Travel Blog, Baby World Traveler

#1 – Immediately unpack and do you laundry! Ugh. I know that laundry sucks – especially after a trip, but I promise you that once you get it out of your suitcase, washed, dried and put away that you will feel much better! I feel like I can re-focus as my bags get unpacked and I figured out what’s going on in my house. Plus, I don’t know about you, but I love the way laundry smells right out of the dyer – which is just an added bonus!

#2 – Sit down, review your budget and add in anything you spent. I always budget before we go on a trip but it’s important to sit down and review it again once you’re home and have spent the money. This also lets you know where you’re going moving forward before your next paycheck. It might feel scary to admit what you spent, but it definitely helps me get focused on our remaining budget for the week(s) ahead.

#3 – Upload your images right away! One of the best things to do once you get home is to upload your images to your computer, back that computer up and then upload the images online wherever you order prints from. It helps make sure that none of your images get lost! Don’t forget the ones on your phone, too!

These few tasks seems really simple but I know I start to feel more at home and relaxed when they’re done. I feel like I’m able to focus again and get ready for going back to work and the not-so fun parts of being home! What’s your routine once you get home from your trips? I’d love to hear about it!
