Rebecca’s 30th Birthday Cake Smash | Fredericksburg VA

Portraits

August 2, 2019

Happy birthday (a bit early!) to one of my all-time favorite people in the world, Rebecca! I feel so lucky that Rebecca asked me to be a part of her 30th birthday cake smash this year. It was so much fun to step out of my comfort zone and capture these fun, glamorous portraits for her. Celebrating her 30th birthday all out was really important to Rebecca – especially after the last few years. I know a lot of people fear turning 30 but she told me that she’s always wanted to be 30 herself and now, she’s just about there! That’s definitely worth celebrating.

We met up for her adult cake smash session to celebrate and as she pulled all of the fun props together, I knew we were going to have a great time. We started the session with some simple portraits and then Rebecca pulled out a confetti popper! You should have seen the two of us trying to figure out how to get the darn thing to pop. Once it did though, it was awesome!! We may have scared a few people with the noise… but it was worth it! After that popper, Rebecca felt more confident about the champagne! We managed to get it open, but I will say… neither of us will ever be professional champagne openers, ha!! Either way, it turned out great.

Then…. after all of the fun, it was time for cake! Our friend Addison of Sweet Tea Sweets made an absolutely stunning cake for the session based on the black and silver inspiration Rebecca had chosen. By the way – I got to taste the cake and it was AMAZING!! Rebecca told me early on that she didn’t want to smash the cake – and honestly, I’d have been a little scared if she had wanted to! I love that she chose to simply cut and enjoy the cake that way. It was perfect!! And super delicious.  We ended the session with a few more glamorous portraits to celebrate this gorgeous woman turning 30!

All I have to say about it all is this: We should all aspire to celebrate who we are and the journey we’re on. Whether that’s turning 30 or another major life change, embrace it. Embrace where you are on your journey and understand that even the tough things will pass. They make us who we are and they’re worth celebrating too. Rebecca has faced a lot in her first 30 years but I am constantly amazed at how strong she is – and that is definitely worth celebrating. Happy birthday, Rebecca! Love you always, girl.
