From January to June of this year, I was part of the Hope Taylor Mastermind. I spent six months learning from and working with Hope, as well as the incredible other members of our cohort. When I first saw Hope posting about the mastermind, I went back and forth about whether or not to apply. I worried I wouldn’t be a good fit or get much out of it (not because of Hope, but because of my own insecurities). But, it turned out to be one of the best things I ever could have done for my business. As more masterminds launch around us every day, which is amazing!!, I thought it might be helpful to share why I joined the mastermind this year and what I felt came out of it. Maybe it will help you make a decision on joining one for your own business!
#1: I was ready for more accountability.
I run a business pretty much on my own right now. And when I started the mastermind, I was running it 100% alone. I was it. And I know I have these big, massive dreams I want to chase… but trying to do that alone and hold myself accountable for the milestones I needed to hit was a little difficult. Okay, it was a lot difficult… I wanted to have someone else hold me accountable and be there to support me. And Hope did just that. She held me accountable to pricing changes, website updates, even hard conversations. I’m so glad I had someone else to show up for so that I hit those little milestones to make chasing those big dreams a bit easier.
#2: I was ready for change.
As much as I love what my business has become, I knew I was on the edge of being burnt out. When I read through what Hope’s mastermind could help me with, I realized it was going to be a good option for me. Creating change is hard, especially when outwardly, there’s nothing wrong or no reason to. But, I knew that in order to grow and build a business that would support me, instead of use me, I had to make changes. And frankly, I don’t know everything (I know that’s hard to believe, ha!) but it’s the truth. Learning from someone who’s grown their business would save me a lot of heartache.
#3: I was ready to grow.
I’ve owned my business for almost 6 years. I’ve been supporting myself full-time for almost 4 years now. And that’s beautiful, seriously. I feel so lucky and blessed that I’ve done this. But, it’s time to grow. It’s time to build a team and change how my business works so I can enjoy what I’m doing at home, too. And I knew I needed more support to start making these massive shifts. I also wanted to offer more education and coaching opportunities through my business. With guidance from someone like Hope, these dreams didn’t feel miles away. In order to grow, you have to challenge yourself and I knew a mastermind would do just that.
Masterminds aren’t an environment for everyone. If I’m being honest, I had moments I worried I was wasting Hope’s time. But, growth looks different for everyone and these type of experiences are truly all about getting what you give. With extra direction, education, and support, this mastermind has given me confidence in my business and my abilities and allowed me to start reaching for those big goals. I truly believe that the Hope Taylor mastermind (and my cohort) changed my life for the better and I’ll be forever grateful for them. If you feel like you’re ready to grow but need more long-term help, a mastermind might be a good fit for you!
And Hope, on the off chance you’re reading this… thank you from the bottom of my heart for pouring everything you did into me for these six months. I’m forever grateful to you.
PS… one of the biggest changes I made was offering 1:1 Coaching for other business owners who want to become VAs or want to up their game.
