Ryan and I waited so long for our trip to San Diego and now it’s come and gone! I can’t believe it. I seriously fell in love with this beautiful city out in California. There’s just something incredible about the sea breeze, the history, the military everywhere and the food. Oh, and of course, the people! We went out west to visit a friend of mine, Katherine, and her beau, Dave who were incredibly gracious and wonderful hosts to us. Our trip was short but filled to the brim with awesome sights!
We started off our trip on Saturday after arriving in Balboa Park. We walked pretty much all of the park and it was so worth it! Getting to be outside but seeing all the gorgeous flowers, gardens and architecture was well worth it! The conservatory was full of some amazing plants – which was probably my favorite part. 🙂 Definitely make sure to stop in if you’re in the area.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that on Sunday, we traveled the hour and a half out to Anaheim to visit Disneyland!! It was so much fun to be back seeing all the changes that have happened since we went on our honeymoon. Star Wars has taken over!! We had a great time – getting soaked in the rapids, eating so much good food (we managed to get there during the Food & Wine Festival) and just laughing together.
Monday and Tuesday, Ryan and I got to spend time exploring the city on our own. We took the SEAL tour, which allowed us to see San Diego from the land and the water. We had a great time listening to the history, seeing all the boats and even getting to see some of the military craft in the area! Oh, and of course, the sea lions! San Diego is laid out so that walking all over is really easy – we spent quite a bit of time just walking along the bay together, enjoying the sunshine, which really is what vacation is all about.
We spent one evening on the beautiful La Jolla beach (below) watching the sea lions and the sunset. I truly don’t think I could have been any happier!
Coronado Beach was also one of my favorite places on the trip. We took the trolley across the bridge and walked along the white beaches together! On the beach is the grand Hotel del Coronado – built of all wood by the best woodworkers money could buy at the time. The hotel was incredibly busy (and expensive!) but we had a great time walking through the hotel and visiting it! Definitely another don’t miss spot in the area!!
I can’t get enough of these sun-filled pictures and I hope you loved them too! We seriously can’t wait to go back to San Diego (I’m only half joking when I say I’m going to move there!). What a great trip!!!
xoxo
