My Must Have Office Supplies | Tips for Working From Home

Business Tips

January 11, 2021

Working from home means I’ve been able to design my office space, work hours, and work systems to my liking. It also means I work from a corner office in my bedroom instead of a full office (like I one day dream of having by the beach!). Since I don’t have a lot of space to do my work now, picking office supplies that keep me organized and on track is important to me. There’s a few things I use every day to make my space feel a little more cozy and focused – so I thought I’d share them with you!
My favorite office supplies from VA and blog writer Dot the I's Outsourcing

Simplified Planner.

I am a paper planner girl (for the most part) and for the last few years, I’ve been thrilled with my Simplified Planner. I recently switched into the daily planner (instead of the weekly planner) and I’ve found that it’s more useful for the way my brain works. I love being able to see the monthly view for bill reminders, appointments, and days I won’t have access to childcare. For the days, I write out tasks that aren’t recurring daily or weekly and items from my clients that need to be done. I also use the hourly view to mark out when daycare runs and other appointments, calls, or video chats I’m responsible for. It helps me visually see my day!

Outer Banks Candles.

I talk about them all the time on Instagram, but I LOVE my Outer Banks Candles. Every day I’m in the office, I light one. It’s nice to have a good smell in the room and they always make even the rainiest days feel better. All of them are handmade in the OBX, so I’m all about that!

White Out.

You would not believe the amount of White Out I have in my office. I love the ones that you can roll the strips out of (instead of the liquid one). I use it to make adjustments to my planner, schedule, and blog list. I hate seeing scribbles on things so being able to make clean updates is important to me!

Notepads.

I love finding cute or unique notepads I can add to my desk. I make notes while I’m on phone calls as well as notes about invoices as I go. I’m a big note taker so I usually have 3-5 notebooks on my desk to use! Shutterfly always has codes for personalized notepads too, so I try to use those when I can. It’s motivating to see my family smiling back at me while I’m jotting notes down for clients! I also have a weekly notepad where I write out every blog post coming up so I can make sure I don’t miss a single one for my clients!

Lindsay Letters Creatives Calendar.

I recently bought her quarterly Creatives Calendar as an add on for my office space. It’s a great way to see three months at a time and make sure I’m setting boundaries for myself. Each quarter, I lay out which days I’m taking off first and mark them in Washi tape. Then, I mark off my CEO days – the days I’ll be focusing on my own business work, like blog writing, social media planning, resource building, and so on. Then I add in calls I have scheduled and any other important meetings. I’m also using it to chart out launches and upcoming product releases. It’s a nice way to see things at a glance!
I spend a good chunk of my week at my desk, so making it cozy and filled with useful but fun items is important to me. I want to feel motivated and like I have what I need at hand while I’m working. If I don’t need to search for what I need, then I’m not wasting time… so that makes me happy! What are some of your favorite office supplies?
