I’m not going to lie to you, I’ve been dreaming about this session since Chris + Kristin got engaged this summer. I kept telling Ryan that I wanted to take their pictures (no, really. Ask him). I mean, how could I not?! They’re some of our best friends + they’re gorgeous people. Their relationship is fun and beautiful and I couldn’t help but want to document it. So basically what I’m saying is: THANK YOU to the photography gods (and really, Kristin + Chris for asking me) for this engagement session.
For awhile now, it seems like Georgetown’s canal has been such a popular destination for photographers alike. I never thought I’d get the chance to shoot there – my clients are mostly families, which I LOVE, but we tend to stay a little closer to home. When Kristin said they were hoping to go to Georgetown, I said YES! (Imagine me saying yes while jumping up and down and having a dance party). Ryan and I got there early since I was anxious about DC traffic + since we were waiting near a cupcake shop we wound up waiting for Chris + Kristin in line for a cupcake (because, why not?). I’m a little embarrassed to say it arrived the same time they did and they waited for us to eat the cupcakes, but I’m so so so glad we did (check out Baked + Wired if you’re in the area!).
Anyway, after I was bad and ate my delicious red velvet cupcake (the light was better anyway since we waited!), we headed towards the canal to start off the session. Even with the water drained so they could repair the locks, the canal was stunning! We had a great time wandering along the side, down a few streets in the town and then along the water front (perhaps my real favorite!). Georgetown is such a cute little part of DC! I absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun afternoon!
Chris + Kristin, I just love you both to pieces. Which I think you knew anyway. But thank you, a million times over, for letting me celebrate this special time with you and documenting how much you love each other. I had a wonderful time exploring Georgetown and making you two look at each other + smile (Chris looked at me when we first started and joked he didn’t know he’d have to look at her during this). Ryan and I are so very lucky to have friends like you. You make life worthwhile. Enjoy this amazing time together. We look forward to celebrating with you every step of the way!
Here’s a few favorites from their engagement session in Georgetown!
XOXO,
Kristina
