When I started talking to Ryan, one of the first things he told me was that he had 2 cats. he actually sent me the picture you see below–yes, it was saved on my phone all this time!!! Ryan found the cats abandoned in the school’s baseball field where he worked at the time and took them in as kittens. Grey Cat used to hide in the litterbox, both of them used to climb up his pants… he’s raised them since they were babies! How sweet is that?!
Not long after I got that first picture, he told me his roommate also had 2 cats of his own. I started thinking to myself- what the heck was I getting into with 2 grown men who each had 2 cats? Nevermind the fact that I had my own furbaby who was at home with my parents and I clearly ADORE cats. Either way, I met up with Ryan and finally met the cats: TOC and Grey Cat were Ryan’s and Maxwell and Moses were his roommate’s. All four were sweet (well, from what I gathered–Max likes to hide from people) and I was immediately in love with them. Being in college meant I was away from my fur ball all the time so it was such a treat to meet these four!
I took joint ownership over the cats not long after Ryan and I started dating because they adored me and I adored them. We were all thrilled and I was so happy to have another orange cat in my life. They’re my favorite! We moved into my parents house while the wedding was being planned and they met our family dog, Poochie which was a whole new experience for them! They adored my parents and they still get to visit them every once in awhile. Now, we’re married and TOC and GC are our babies, without a doubt. They’re three years old now and full of so much energy. They already appear on the blog and they’re all over my facebook and instagram so I thought it was only fair to introduce them finally!
TOC is our ball of energy. He runs around like crazy no matter what time of day it is and then not long after, we’ll find him flopped on the ground asleep or curled in the top of the cat tower. He LOVES to watch the dogs outside when they’re being walked and he, for whatever reason, insists on getting water out of the sink taps despite having a perfectly good water bowl. He’s our water cat! When he’s not asleep on the floor or cat tower, he’s usually curled up right on top of Ryan, hitting him in the face with his head. His new favorite spot is to be under the covers in between us both at night, which is sweet but also incredibly annoying at the same time.
Grey Cat is my baby. He’s really taken to me — especially since my furball, Snowball, was put down last February. GC can usually be found curled up on my lap licking my hands (like he’s doing now as I go to post this) or in the blanket by my feet. He paws EVERYTHING (it’s seriously his favorite hobby–he could go a whole episode of ‘Hoarders’ just pawing at the blanket on me) and yes, he only has one eye! His other eye was useless-the third eyelid was out, and it was removed over a year ago now. GC is very nimble–he actually jumped over two baby gates stacked in a doorway last year WITH his cone on after the surgery. He loves treats and he’s friendly but he usually hides when the house is full of people–although he likes my parents quite a bit. Grey Cat is our hiding cat. When we moved into the apartment, he hid inside the couch because he was scared (we actualy spent 40 minutes looking for him until we noticed the lump on the back of the couch!). He’s not very good at sitting for pictures with my DSLR because he’s more interested in what on earth mommy’s holding in front of her face, so we try to catch him on the cell phone more!
Those are two of our fur babies! They’re still figuring out how to deal with their big sister, but for now- everything is under control!
What are your furbabies like? I’d love to hear about them!
XOXO,
Kristina
