“Outsourcing” has become a bit of a buzz world in the small business world, and for a good reason! When the tasks you need to do become more than you can fit in a day, or when you realize that you’re not getting to spend your limited time in the office on what you really want (or need) to be doing, it’s time to outsource. In theory, outsourcing sounds like a great idea – but it can be easy to feel hesitant as you think about handing off your business tasks to someone else. But I truly believe with all my heart that outsourcing can change your life and you should definitely consider building your team. Here’s why!

By handing off tasks that are a time suck – or that you procrastinate on because you don’t like them – you’re getting time back to work on what only YOU can do in your business. For many, that means things like photographing their sessions or creating art. If you can hand off admin tasks or social media prep, imagine how much time you’d have to focus on what you need to do in your own business. And it’s not just about business tasks. Time back means more time for your family or to just have margin in your life.

The key to making more money is being consistent so that you can reach new clients. If you’re anything like me, you have lists everywhere of things that you want to do for your business. New websites, gallery updates, blogs to write… and it goes on and on. Absolutely! Ask for referrals – it’s a good way to start and know the person you’re interested in working with is good at what they do. Also don’t be afraid to ask for their experience and history, their expertise, and find out about their packages or rates early on. Remember that it will be a transition for you (That’s just life) but it should smooth out quickly. And make sure their communication style works for you!! That’s a huge one!
