Last weekend, I had the privilege to meet + capture the Kelly family at Alum Springs Park here in Fredericksburg, VA! I can’t believe that was my first time at Alum Springs – it’s GORGEOUS! The Kelly’s are so much fun – it’s clear that they really love each other and enjoy all the time they get to spend together, especially outside. We had fun exploring the park and playing in the water during their session.

Kristi actually won her session with me from a raffle last spring and I’m so glad we were finally able to connect and get their session scheduled. Thankfully the weather held out during this session so we could be together. Her two sweet kiddos were a blast! Some of the most well-behaved kids I’ve been able to photograph in awhile. I loved being able to watch them interact with each other + their daddy while skipping rocks. 

One of the things I always tell parents about their sessions is that we will always capture some great shots of them and the kiddos, no matter what happens. I’ve loved that the last few families I’ve worked with have been wonderful about this mindset and understand that sometimes those great shots are captured while letting the kids play, run around, or skip rocks! These are the moments that matter. 🙂 Of course, we’ll work really hard for a nice full family shot where everyone is looking at me – but please, understand, it doesn’t phase me one bit to chase a little one around the park some!
