When I first started as a photographer, blogging was definitely all the rage. Everyone was talking about how important it was. And then, all of a sudden, their marketing tactics changed and it seemed like no one was talking about it. Instead, everything became Facebook groups and Instagram Reels. So it doesn’t surprise me that people forget about this amazing tool right at their fingertips. I’m often asked if blogging is even still worth it… The short answer is YES! Blogging is great for so many reasons, but here’s my top 3 reasons you should blog for your small business!
It makes Google happy.
And if we aren’t working to make Google happy, what are we even doing with our lives? Okay, I’m kidding a little bit. But… Everyone always talks about ranking and being found during searches online. And spoiler alert: blogging helps show Google that your site is indeed relevant to searches tied to your keywords. When you publish new content regularly with appropriate keywords, Google knows your site is super active and is excited! It’s more likely to show your site in searches if you’re showing up regularly.
It helps you establish your credibility.
Simply put: when you show up sharing your work, tips to make your client’s experiences better, and that you connect and work well with other vendors, it looks good. Like anything else, when you show up with valuable (free) content that they can consume, they’re going to trust that you know your stuff! Plus, you have all of this experience – and you know what works and what doesn’t – why would you want to share that with your audience?
It drives traffic to your website!
It sounds obvious but it’s a really good reason to blog! You want potential clients to come to your website, see your work and fall in love with you. Bringing them to your site with a blog they want to read is easy and smart.
Blogging is so important for so many reasons, but hopefully these three have convinced you to start a blog for your small business. It’s an easy and FREE way to grow your business when used with purpose. Download my FREE 10 Tips to Kickstart Your Blog to get started today:
