Ryan and I may have only been married for 6 months (not even!) but we’ve been sharing holidays for three years now. Beyond that, my family has always celebrated Christmas 2 or three times between all of our family celebrations and it’s such a beautiful thing! We get time to really sit and enjoy the group of our closest family we’re with on that day with no stress of bouncing between houses or missing dinners because we have to run somewhere else.
This weekend, we celebrated our Farm Christmas (the first of three celebratiosn to occur this year). It’s a crazy day–we’re helping get dinner ready for 20 people, we open gifts and take turns going around the room, we eat desserts until we’re so full and then we finish up gifts! It’s been such a blessing to be able to watch my cousins grow up into the young adults they’re becoming and now, I’m getting to bring my husband into everything. It’s amazing to see all of the changes happening in this family! My sister and cousin are bringing their long time boyfriends and we all feel quite grown up. The six of us even got our own table this year (the 20-30 table)! I love getting to sit there and laugh with them while hearing my parents, aunts/uncles and grandparents chat in the other room while my younger cousins chatted behind us. There’s nothing quite like that crazy day every year!
Later on Sunday, we took a trip down to my mom’s to see my sister and her boyfriend as well as my aunt and grandparents. We had such a blast icing cookies that my mom had made–a tradition that used to be completed by my sister, my mom and me. This year, we had the honor of having Arthur, my aunt and my grandparents decorating too! It’s always so fun to see what everyone comes up with!
Oh! And check out the adventures of Buddy the Elf around the apartment lately! 🙂 He’s enjoying himself!
Enjoy your holiday week and LOVE the family you see every day and those that you don’t!
XOXO, Kristina
