Ashley and Ian are so special to me. Ashley’s my cousin (if you haven’t been on the blog before) and Ian’s her fantastic boyfriend. They’ve just celebrated 5 years of dating and so, of course, it was time to update their portraits! I’m pretty sure we’ve done couples portraits for the last few years, if not every year they’ve been together… and I don’t mind one bit! I love working with clients again and again because we get comfortable with each (and obviously, being family helps with that too!) but it’s really amazing to see how they change over the years too.

We decided to do this session at James Madison University, where they both go to school and will graduate from this spring (keep your eyes peeled for their senior portraits in the spring!). It’d been awhile since I’d done a session at JMU so it was a ton of fun to walk around and find beautiful spots to photograph them in. We spent the majority of our session in the quad area and it was so worth it! Oh, and we started the session at the Kissing Rock! Apparently if you kiss the person you love there, you’ll be together forever!! So… duh, definitely a great place to start their session!!

The fall is the perfect time for portrait sessions, if you haven’t noticed already! The weather is great and the light is even better. From start to finish, their session was beautiful and I’m so excited to share it with you today! Ashley and Ian, thanks for asking me to do this session with you. You both know I love you so much and I’m so excited to see where the future takes you.
