So any families think that once the winter comes that we can’t get family portraits done because of the weather and the cold! And while it’s true we probably won’t be bundling up for portraits in the freezing temperatures, we can definitely still get some family portraits done in the winter months! Hello lifestyle sessions!! These sessions are all about capturing your family in your home – nice and cozy… and most importantly, natural. Lifestyle sessions are generally more relaxed and it’s a great chance to show off your beautiful home! Here’s a few quick tips to make your lifestyle session even easier!
- Don’t stress too much about if your home is clean enough or bright enough. My job is to come in and make it all work! We’ll find the room that has the best light for me to shoot in. It’s as easy as that!
- Choose outfits you’re comfortable in. Being in your home already screams comfort. So choose outfits that feel comfortable. I’m not saying break out the sweatpants and sweatshirts, but jeans and a nice sweater are perfect!!
- Focus on being a family. That’s what the session is all about! Just enjoy being together. We’ll definitely do some more “staged” images but I want you to truly enjoy being together. So play a game, relax with some cocoa or even bake cookies! I’d love to capture those moments. Trust me… they’re the ones that matter years from now!!
- Understand your session will likely be in the morning. Being indoors means we have to and want to work with one source of natural light whenever possible, so we want to get good bright light. So don’t be too mad if your session is earlier than you thought!
